This return match was drawn with Staffordshire winning on first innings, the match between the two sides at Town Malling earlier in the season having been won outright by Staffordshire. The match was designated as a benefit match for S F Barnes. Kent appeared destined for defeat when the sixth wicket of their second innings fell as their lead was then just three runs; however debutant Weighall (with an innings of 52, containing ?? fours) and Leach-Lewis (who scored 51 not out, containing ?? fours) added 80 for their seventh wicket to help secure a draw. In Kent's first innings Barnes took 6 wickets for 43 runs. In Staffordshire's first innings, Briggs scored 60, which included 6 fours whilst Powell took five wickets for 57 runs. There was a seventh wicket stand of 88 between Barnes and Vost.
[Missing: Extras breakdown; in Kent second innings boundaries in Weighall's 52 and Leach-Lewis's 51 not out and part batting order; in Staffordshire second innings batting order.]
