Norfolk won this return match by 140 runs at 4.45 pm on the second day. The match between the two teams at Bedford Grammar School in July had also been won by Norfolk. For the winners, there were 7 fours in Falcon's 56 and 4 fours in Birkbeck's 54 not out. In the Bedfordshire first innings Falconer took 6 wickets for 20 runs and in the second innings Gibson 6 wickets for 18 runs. For the losers, Apthorp took 4 catches in Norfolk's first innings and 7 in the match. There were 6 fours in Orr's 60, in this his final match leading Bedfordshire. He was to emigrate to Canada.
