Staffordshire won this match by 8 wickets at 12.05pm on the second day after less than an hour's play. Surrey's second innings closed after two balls in the morning and Staffordshire hit off the required runs for the loss of two wickets. The match earlier in the season at The Oval had been won by Surrey 2nd XI.
Deyes took 7 for 39 in Surrey's first innings and 4 for 45 in the second giving him match figures of 11 for 84. Barnes took 6 for 30 in the second innings. Ridgway and Briggs were chiefly responsible for giving Staffordshire a lead of 20 runs.
For the losers the debutant J Howell made the top score in the match, 44, in the first innings of his side.
