This match was left drawn with Wiltshire winning on the first innings.
In the absence of Miller and Awdry, the latter having been called away by the Yeomanry, Taunton captained Wiltshire.
Sandford had also been called up before Wiltshire’s second innings whilst Sandham left before Surrey’s second innings in order to play for the first team against Worcestershire.
On the first day rain stopped play just before lunch and the match did not resume until 3.30pm.
On the second day more rain curtailed Wiltshire’s bid to score 112 for victory in about 2 hours.
For the home side Tayler top-scored with 43.
Mitchell took 10 wickets for 126 runs in the match, including figures of 6 for 56 in Surrey’s first innings, during which he and AW Newman bowled unchanged.
For the visitors
Goatly scored 89 and Abel took 4 wickets in Wiltshire’s first innings.
